Air Plant Care
Tillandsia, commonly known as air plants, are unique and extremely low maintenance plants that add a natural touch to any space. Without
the need for soil, they thrive on bright light, fresh air, and regular moisture—making them perfect for creative displays, terrariums, or small decorative accents anywhere in your home. Follow these tips to keep your air plants healthy, happy, and vibrant.
Water
- Soak them in room‑temperature water for 15–30 minutes once a week. Bottled or filtered tap water is ideal; softened or distilled water should be avoided, as it can remove essential nutrients from the plants.
- Shake off excess water after soaking to prevent rot.
- Mist lightly between soakings if your home is especially dry.
Temperature
Air plants enjoy temperatures between 50–90°F (10–32°C). They also love humidity, which makes bathrooms and kitchens great places for them, as long as they still receive enough light.
Air Circulation
As epiphytes, air plants naturally grow in breezy environments. Keep them in open displays or well‑ventilated spots in your home—never sealed containers without airflow.
- Curling or crispy leaves → needs more water
- Soft, mushy base → too much moisture or poor drying
- Faded color → insufficient light
Follow these simple care tips, and your air plants will stay healthy, vibrant, and happy for years to come!
